Emma Batten – Profile
I first discovered Osteopathy when I had a shoulder problem some years ago and Osteopathy helped me immensely. It not only increased my awareness about posture, it also created an interest in Human anatomy, which led me to pursue a career in Osteopathy.
I am an Oxford Brookes University graduate and have also been practising remedial massage for four years now. I have treated a wide range of people with both remedial massage and Osteopathy from rugby players and hockey players to polo players and runners. I am particularly interested in treating sports related problems and working to help improve overall biomechanics of the body, in order to improve performance and prevent injury. Osteopathy enables me to treat all age groups taking in to consideration lifestyle, diet, exercise as well as current and previous health, in order to provide the best treatment possible.
Biomechanical Assessments are carried out to gain a more complete and in depth understanding of how the body is functioning as a whole. The assessment looks at muscle chains throughout the body, skeletal alignment and general overall posture and muscle tone. It is particularly useful to help improve; long term injuries, minor injuries and looks to strengthen and correct dysfunctions in the body, which may inhibit achieving specific improvement in sporting capability or life in general.
The assessment takes approximately one and a half hours and includes; a full case history of current and past health problems and treatment recommendations if appropriate. After the initial assessment a report will be sent out to you, which includes a summary, with advice for you to follow if you wish. Follow-up appointments maybe needed in order to help further corrections and address the problems identified.
